Reflection on informative tool

What is Informative tool?

An informative tool is any resource that is used for gathering, accessing, and presenting information on anything. In ICT, informative tool refers to the use of digital technology to collect, store, process and share information in various formats like text, sound, image, animation, videos, and graphics that helps learners understands better.

                                                            YouTube as an informative tool

As I reflect back, from my experience I feel like YouTube is the most informative and user-friendly tools in teaching and learning. What makes it so effective is it's vast collection of educational videos covering almost all topics in various fields like science experiments, historical documentaries, language tutorials, and mathematics problem solving.

One of the YouTube's biggest advantages is that it offers free access to quality content from experienced educators, universities, and organizations like Khan Academy, TED-Ed, National Geographic and many more. We are often made to watch videos from YouTube here in the college, and from that experience, I am confident that a child can get more information from the YouTube videos.

Another great feature that I appreciate about YouTube is it's flexibility and accessibility. Whether learner is using a phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop, they can easily access videos anytime and anywhere as long as there is internet connectivity. I personally browse information from YouTube as I can learn at my own pace by pausing in between, rewinding or replaying the parts that I didn't catch up at one go and it helps me get more ideas and information about that particular topic. In the college also, when tutor assigns with only topic and not content, the first option to look for information is from YouTube from some famous scholars and in that way, YouTube serves as best informative tool.

Another useful feature I found on YouTube is the download option, which allows videos to be saved offline. This is especially helpful in areas with poor or unstable internet connectivity. As a future teacher, I can download educational videos in advance and use them in class without worrying about network issues. Students can also download the information at home or when there is WI-FI and watch them later at their convenience.

YouTube also supports differentiated learning. We know that some student's prefer learning through videos rather than written notes. Videos on one particular concept with subtitles, slow motion, or in diverse language and cultural background helps learners get more information from different corner of the world and make learning more fun and engaging.

To conclude, I personally feel that YouTube serves best as an informative tool because of its easy navigation, diversity of content and ability to simplify complex topics through visuals and narration. It makes learning more inclusive and engaging.
